Thank you for choosing Brooklyn Heights Montessori for your family! I have the privilege of working as BHMS’ Director of Development, supporting families in their journey of giving back, whether it be with a philanthropic gift or their time.
 

Our Culture of Giving

Since our founding 60 years ago, our community has benefited from the ongoing support and generosity of its families, friends, and faculty and staff.

Why Do We Fundraise?

As with all independent schools, our tuition does not cover the full cost of the BHMS experience. This is intentional; by setting tuition below the true cost of education, we provide the opportunity for more families to join our community. The funding gap is filled by families - both current and alumni - who generously support with a tax-deductible donation.

Who Donates to BHMS?

Everyone! We approach fundraising as a community. This means that every dollar counts. When pooled together, our giving has a tremendous impact on our students, families, and faculty and staff. Whether your family chooses to give $25 or $25,000, please know that your contribution makes a difference in our day-to-day.

Making the Gift That's Right For You

There are many ways to support our BHMS community. The most common ways families choose to support include:

Brooklyn Heights Montessori Fund

The most common way families choose to support BHMS is with our Brooklyn Heights Montessori Fund, our annual fund designed to enhance the student experience. This fund touches every aspect of the BHMS educational experience, including:

Field trips, special classroom guests and speakers, and adventures throughout the city and beyond
The flexibility to adapt and evolve to meet the needs of our community

BHMS By Design: 60th Anniversary Capital Campaign

This year we’ve launched a capital campaign aimed at enhancing the student experience for all members of our community. Over our 60 year history, each generation of BHMS families has come together to take care of and build upon our incredible facilities so that our students today have beautiful, well-designed spaces where they can learn and grow. That's why we are once again investing in our physical environment by creating some exciting new (and rediscovering some wonderful old) spaces for not only our own kids, but those to come.

Together, BHMS will be raising a collective $1 million to put towards this transformational project. Unlike with our BHMF, families have the ability to make a generous pledge toward these renovations over the next three years allowing for an opportunity to make a deeper investment in our community.

2025 Spring Benefit: BHMS 60th Birthday Party
