Brooklyn Heights Montessori School
Mission Statement
Guided by the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori, Brooklyn Heights Montessori School is a diverse community committed to educational excellence, serving students in preschool through grade 8. At our center is respect for the individual child’s development and potential.

Our carefully designed environment encourages the student’s natural curiosity. We inspire a love of independent learning and foster critical thinking by engaging students in a challenging and meaningful curriculum.

By encouraging personal responsibility, leadership, and respect for self and others, we teach children to be thoughtful and confident citizens of the School and the world.
Here, at the intersection of curiosity and exploration, there are some of the very most important things you should know about us:

WE ARE FEARLESS LEARNERS.
We ask more questions, dig deeper, aren’t afraid to fail, collaborate, recalibrate, celebrate. Read more

WE ARE WORLD-CLASS LISTENERS.
Every voice matters to us and every opinion. We believe every student brings a critical, valued piece to our collective community and they are encouraged to speak up for themselves and for others. Read more.
WE DON'T LOVE DESKS.
The Montessori philosophy guides all we do, including having the spaces and opportunities for kids to move as they need to, group together, work collaboratively, get their wiggles out, and jump for joy at the discovery of a new idea or a long sought-after answer to a problem.

WE ARE A HAVEN IN A BUSY WORLD.
This is a welcoming, diverse, come-as-you-are community of families, educators, learners, and friends. It is more than a school, it is an exciting haven in Brooklyn with a robust and energizing atmosphere, as well as a calm and accepting escape from the bustle of life beyond our doors.
